A dream collab with Graza and its design that (literally) came to us in a dream.

When Graza reached out to us about creating a serving set that would showcase their olive oil bottles, we set right to work. Both Graza & Areaware believe everyday objects should never skimp on fun—so this design challenge was right in our wheelhouse.

Graza pitched the original idea, which was to design a serving set that could offer a comfortable home for their olive oil bottles (meet “Sizzle” and “Drizzle”) and be a colorful and aesthetically pleasing object to have featured in your party time spread. Graza had recently designed something in collaboration with Dusen Dusen (a series of oven mitts), so working with Areaware on their next “designy” kitchen product was an obvious match.

The Graza team mentioned melamine as the ideal material for the plateware. It’s durable and lightweight, making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor entertaining—the kind of flexibility Graza leans into (think squeezable bottles). We provided some references of 70s and 80s serveware made in melamine with modular and stackable design features that served as important qualities in our initial brainstorms.

It was important to both brands that the serving set be functional and good-looking, so the design conversation naturally focused on creating something with a fun shape and that had a modular aspect to it. The idea for the shapes came to our Chief Design Officer in a dream (when Roberto is inspired, he never stops working!) and we started designing from there.

Because the creative visions of both teams were in alignment, things came together quickly. This project began in late March 2024 and six months later, The “Drizz & Dip” has come to life, ready to be at your serving and snacking service. The set includes two half-circle serving trays and two dipping bowls, which can hold dips or olive oil, and are also the perfect size for holding the Graza “Sizzle” and “Drizzle” bottles.
