A new addition to the evolving Serving Friends Collection.

Serving Friends first caught our eye back in 2020 on Selena's Instagram.

Selena Liu first designed Serving Friends, three sets of serving spoons, in 2019 with the intention of using them at dinner parties—but when Covid hit, this dream of sharing them with friends went on pause. Selena shared the first prototypes, which they carved in their studio, on their Instagram. We spotted the post and reached out to them to discuss working on the spoons together. Following months of development, we launched Serving Friends in January of 2022.

Everyone was eager to get back together and enjoy a meal with loved ones, so Serving Friends came at just the right time. They were so well received that we worked with Selena on Serving Friends - Large, a bigger set in a dark wood finish, later that year. The collection expanded in 2023 with the launch of Serving Friends Board—a compliment to the serving spoons that offered a new way to gather and enjoy food with friends.

It's only natural that the Serving Friends collection should evolve from there. Selena had the idea of creating pot holders, another kitchen necessity that's useful throughout a dinner party's beginning and end, from prep work to serving the final dish. We suggested the design could play on the same shapes of the Serving Friends and began kicking around design ideas together.

Selena notes that Serving Friends Pot Holders were designed so that they "can be mix-and-matched, and double as trivets for hot plates or pans. Both utilitarian and decorative, some things are not meant to be put away!"
