Sophie Collé
Sophie Collé founded her eponymous design studio in 2020, hand-building colorful amorphous furniture to raise funds for various mutual aid organizations. Since then, she has established a full-time practice that challenges notions of boring normcore furniture and the exclusionary practices of the design world. Her custom pieces are built to order, with no two objects ever looking identical, but all singlehandedly reflecting her love of queerness, fine art, the 1980s, children’s movies, warm Floridian colors, and dramatic ornamental architecture.
Several of her pieces, ranging from side tables to étagères, have been featured in publications such as Surface, Architectural Digest + Get Clever, Elle Decor, Hunker, and Vogue AU. The extremely pink renovation of her Brooklyn loft can also be seen in Domino.
She is thrilled to release her first collection of readily available furniture with Areaware.
