Work Days: Monday-Friday 9am-6pm (occasional weekends for Trade Shows and Sample Sales)
Travel: <10% as needed
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid Schedule – 3 Days Office) OR Remote (Non-NYC Candidates)
Role Overview
Areaware seeks a highly motivated individual with a background in wholesale sales to join the Areaware Sales department. Qualified candidate must be able to prioritize and manage many customers, short-term and long-term projects, and cross-departmental collaboration on a daily basis. This role contributes to the success of the sales team by supporting Areaware retail partners domestically. Strong candidates are goal-oriented, have an appreciation for design, possess keen attention to detail, and have strong communication/collaboration skills along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and project-management tools.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily inbound sales inquiries from new and existing customers within defined territory.
- Active daily sales outreach via email and phone to existing customers to grow Areaware business, strengthen relationships, and offer exceptional sales/customer service support to our retail partners.
- Prospect and onboard new independent retailers to progress toward greater marketplace penetration.
- Conduct in-person meetings with local customers as needed.
- Deliver orders and account paperwork to the Customer Service team in a clean, organized, and efficient manner.
- Learn how Areaware products work and effectively communicate selling points to customers.
- Track all daily activities in CRM for successful account management.
- Report on sales to ensure effective progress toward monthly, quarterly, and yearly territory goals.
- Plan and help organize domestic trade shows as needed.
- Resolve customer issues by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
- Monitor marketplace by gathering current information on pricing, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
- Assist in formulating domestic sales budgets and strategies.
Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and 4-5+ years of wholesale sales experience.
- Previous account ownership and knowledge of CRM systems. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills, flexible attitude, attention to detail, aptitude for working with many people, and ability to deal with a rapidly shifting workload.
- Proven ability to develop lasting client relationships.
- Ability to create and analyze reports and sense of urgency in meeting deadlines.
- Pro-active, professional, positive attitude, and the diplomatic ability to work collaboratively, and willing to go above and beyond to make a difference in a growing organization.

Compensation - Base salary of $40,000 plus commission on territory sales (OTE: $70,000+ based on 2024 territory performance). With anticipated territory growth, earning potential is expected to increase.
